Our Programs
Arts Education
With education cutbacks, arts programs have been removed or greatly reduced at schools. Our goal is to bring arts back into the classroom by providing literary, visual and performing arts programs.
California schools are filled with students from around the world who can feel disconnected from their roots. Arts education helps students to build self confidence and pride in the history of their people. The lesson plans are aligned to California state standards and include residency programs and assemblies.
Agriculture
Many children in California grow up in an urban environment and have little knowledge of where their food comes from or how to grow it. Our four month urban agriculture program is designed to teach children in elementary school about agricultural practices, the origin of food, plant life cycles, maintaining gardens, and the importance of nutrition and organic food. The lesson plans are interactive to get students to participate in the planting, maintenance and harvesting of their own food. According to the USDA and California Department of Education, agricultural programs in schools help bring awareness to nutrition and eating habits as well as help to improve behavior and school scores. All lessons are aligned to California state standards.
Technology: recycled computer program
Budget cuts have nearly crippled schools' ability to purchase the items they need to enrich the students' learning experience. Many schools cannot afford to purchase computers for staff and students to use in classrooms. Our program takes the pain out of the budget by recycling computers that most people would not use anymore. Even some of the oldest machines can be cleaned and have Linux operating system installed and work just as well as any of the newer ones.
